In 2019, the Sightsavers web and design team were approached to produce a leaflet promoting the organisation's work to eliminate trachoma, a blinding disease prevalent in low-income countries. The leaflet was to be distributed at an event in London and needed to grab the attention of a general audience unfamiliar with Sightsavers' work.

As content lead, I worked closely with the design team to come up with the  concept: retro items that had 'become extinct' over the years, and a look ahead to what might be wiped out in future. The idea was to play to people's fondness for childhood memories of yesteryear. Our concertina leaflet design featured pop-culture references on one side, with a more serious message on the other about trachoma and how Sightsavers hopes to banish it for good.

The concept was so well received that we were asked to replicate it on the website as part of a social media campaign, which aimed to target a cold audience with eye-catching retro graphics and invitations to engage with the content.
