Inclusive Futures navigation

Redesigning the nav to make it more engaging and easier to use

My role: content lead

Inclusive Futures brings together specialists and global leaders from more than 20 organisations to ensure people with disabilities are included in international development. Since the initiative launched in 2018, its remit has expanded and the website navigation was not showcasing the full breadth of its work. Evidence also suggested users were finding it confusing and repetitive.

I was part of a team of four who carried out extensive research to inform the project, including focus groups, analytics analysis, card sorting, stakeholder interviews, prototyping and user testing. The result was a more expansive menu offering multiple links, related content and calls to action, in a bid to engage users and give them more entry points into the site.

The new menu, launched in mid-2023, was very well received by the Inclusive Futures team. In the autumn, we aim to review the data to see how it has affected user journeys and engagement.

The new navigation features dropdowns containing numerous links and related content.
